My name is Jacqui Maher and I am a computer programmer specializing in Ruby and Ruby on Rails development living in Brooklyn, NY. I have over twelve years experience in technology spanning such areas as technical architecture, systems administration and graphics design. I currently work for StreetEasy in NYC doing Ruby on Rails.
In addition to Ruby and the Rails framework, I have developed in Perl, PHP, Java, Tcl, various Javascript libraries and frameworks (mootools/jquery/dojo/yui/prototype/scriptaculous), CSS, and XSL.
Some of my favorite things include: my dog Sebastien, felt tip pens, riding my bicycle in Brooklyn, being silly with my friends, aha!, rollercoasters, campfires, xmas lights, sparklers, fireworks, music - everything from leonard cohen to mudhoney to dubnobasswithmyheadman by underworld, tattoos, :wq, exploring new places, random encounters, and, always, fightin’ the powers that be.
I dislike packing, the word enterprise in just about any context, propaganda, ^X^C, getting there, raw tomatoes, cilantro, buffalo wings, being stuck without a command line, posturing, “does this X make me look Y?”, the red sox, hummers, dirty hippies, conservatives with guns and math being hard :)
